Ryan Kripp wins shucking contest at Boston Seafood Festival


Ryan Kripp is one of the many friendly faces at Turner’s that has been welcoming customers to the oyster bar- first in Melrose and now in Salem- for many years. A dedicated member of the Turner’s team, Ryan represented Turner’s at last week’s Boston Seafood festival– taking an exciting win at the “Battle of the Shuckers”!

The competition was stiff, featuring some of the best area shuckers from Legal Seafood, Union Oyster House and big Rock Oyster Company. Winning two heats and a final round, Kripp scored best for both “finishing time” and “presentation.”  Points were deducted for oysters that were “hacked” (broken) or not properly detached from the shell. Ryan took home a $500 prize for his win!
