Dining at Turner's in Historic Salem

In 1920, twenty-year-old James F Turner emigrated from Saint John's Newfoundland to begin his career on the Boston Fish Pier.
Hard work and a relentless passion for quality soon made "Big Jim" a leader in New England's booming seafood industry.

In 1954, Turner Fisheries' was founded in Gloucester, MA.
With the rapid expansion of the commercial airline industry, "Turner" became the nationally recognized name for fresh quality seafood.
One hundred years and four generations later, the Turner reputation endures, guided by its family mission, "to serve you the freshest, best tasting seafood you've ever eaten!"

As the sun rises each day over the docks of Gloucester and Boston, we are there with your experience in mind...
- What seafood looks exceptional and is going to taste amazing?
- What will our customers be looking to purchase today from our seafood markets?
- What can our chefs create to bring new fish and new flavors to our guests?
Once purchased, the seafood immediately goes through rigorous preparation in our Gloucester processing plant.
Once up to our high standards, it's shipped to our restaurants, to wholesalers, and to customers at home through our shipping program.

The best seafood, from the dock to your plate - it's what Turner's has been about for 100 years.
Fresh! Authentic! Turner's!

Salem's Lyceum Hall, built in 1831, is one of Salem's most cherished (and haunted) historic buildings.

While enjoying the Lyceum's old-world brick walls, multiple fireplaces, tin ceilings, wood floors and historic store front, it's not difficult to envision people gathering here in the 1800's, listening to educators, poets, authors and world travelers as they share their knowledge and debate topics of their day. Former Lyceum speakers include Ralph Waldo Emerson, Henry David Thoreau, Clara Barton, John Quincy Adams, Frederick Douglass, and Alexander Graham Bell introducing his invention, the telephone.

Still, this location reaches further back, into Salem's darkest era, the Salem Witch Trials. Our location is the site of Bridget Bishop's apple orchard. Bridget was the first person executed as a result of the Salem Witch Trials of 1692. It is believed by many that Bridget's spirit haunts the building, and there are Turner's employees who swear to it!

For most of the year, specifically mid-November to the following mid-September,
we welcome our guests to make reservations through Resy, and we also hold tables to welcome walk-ins.
During this timeframe, if reservation options are unavailable for the time you'd like, give us a call as we may have walk-in tables available.

One might think that grabbing a table in the middle of the day, on an October weekday, wouldn't be a challenge.
Well, that person has never experienced Salem in October!

During Salem's Halloween Season, from mid-September to mid-November,
our online reserved seating is limited and usually books well in advance.
Most seating is for our simple and fast-moving wait-in-line system.

Have a confirmed online reservation?
Please check in with the host stand upon arrival.
We do our best to seat you within 15 minutes of your requested time.
Your party must be complete when you check in.

No reservation? No problem.
If there's no line when your party arrives at Turner's, please check in with the host stand;
if a table is available, we will seat you immediately.

If there is a line of people outside the front entrance, please have your party join the line.
Our hostess does not maintain a list; we don't use buzzers or texts.
It's a simple first-come, first-seated system, based on party size and tables openings.
As tables become available, a host will let the line know what size table and the next party in line for that size table will be seated.
- The line moves quickly given our large seating capacity.
- This system includes the bar high-tops and the bar itself.
- Unfortunately, due to the extremely high volume of guests during the Halloween season, our bar can only provide drinks through your server.
You'll have to wait until November to belly up top the bar again.
- We can accommodate parties of all sizes, but we cannot guarantee seating together for large parties.
